Since our humble beginning in 2015, Tipple has been a rollercoaster ride of growth, learning, and fun. But along the way we haven’t lost sight of our core values. Rather, they’ve led the way as we’ve grown! We value fairness and good value, for us, for our customers, for our drivers, and for the many independent bottle shops we partner with. We’ve also become known for championing independent breweries, wineries, and distilleries.

Tipple is for independents, by independents

We’re not like every other tech company, and we’re proud of that! Tipple was not so much a wild idea thought up on a night out, as it was the natural evolution of an Aussie family business. Passionate about starting his own company and working alongside great people, CEO Ryan Barrington opened his first Melbourne bottle shop in 2002, after which another 10 bottle shops followed over the years.

He then opened up a few kebab shops in Melbourne, after spotting a lack of the kinds of steller kebab shops he’d grown up with in Sydney. When he began offering kebab delivery soon after, the idea struck. Why not deliver alcohol as well?

The times they are a-changin

Since we started out in 2015 the online alcohol market place has grown fast into a booming and exciting place to be. Did you know that last year, nearly 1 in 3 Australians had used an alcohol delivery service? That’s huge! Big conglomerates are moving fast to claim their share (they’d be silly not to!), but in the process, the small independent bottle shops are losing out on their share. We’re doing something about that.

Supporting independent businesses

You may not know it, but when you shop your drinks through Tipple, you actually buy them from your local bottle-o. We don’t do big chains and big batch buy-ups (not that there’s anything wrong with that). Instead we partner with independent bottleshops across the areas we service. We largely let them decide what they sell and at what price. that’s our way of giving them a fair go.
